Frequently Asked Questions

Systems & Procedures for Business Growth

What is the process for implementing new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with Whalen Organizing & Consulting?

The first step is a consultation. When you reach out to us to schedule an appointment, we gain clarity on your specific needs and current challenges. We then outline a customized plan and decide on the next steps to start boosting your small business efficiency through structured SOPs and processes.

How long does it take to create and implement a complete set of business processes and SOPs?

The timeline depends on the complexity and volume of the Standard Operating Procedures required. The initial creation and revision phase typically lasts about 3 to 6 months. After this initial phase, we re-evaluate your progress. Many clients choose to retain our support through a maintenance package to ensure continuous improvement and adaptation of their systems.

How many meetings are required to create the necessary SOPs for my business?

We first need an initial meeting to prioritize and confirm the most critical SOPs required for your business. Subsequent meetings will focus on documenting the detailed steps for each procedure. Depending on your preference and available time, this documentation can be completed by you with our guidance or entirely directed by us. Revisions can often be handled without a meeting, though we are always available to meet if more information or guidance is needed.

Do you provide training for my team and me once the SOPs are finalized?

Absolutely. Once the new SOPs are completed and integrated, we will offer comprehensive training for you and any members of your team who will be using the new procedures. This ensures smooth adoption and makes sure everyone understands the new, efficient way of operating.

What are the next steps to begin working with Whalen Organizing & Consulting in Littleton, CO?

To get started, schedule a consultation with us. We will send you a link to our online scheduler (Calendly) along with clarity questions to complete before we meet. This ensures our first session is productive and immediately focused on your goals.

Once the initial project is complete, does the working relationship end?

Not at all. We believe in continuous partnership. We offer a maintenance package to ensure we’re always in your corner, whether you need new processes or procedures as your business grows, or if you simply require modifications and fine-tuning to the systems we have already implemented.

Workspace & Office Organization

My mess is organized in its own way." What if I can't find anything after it's organized?

It’s common to feel like you know where everything is, even in a cluttered space. However, true organization helps you reach your full potential because your environment is supporting you, not holding you back. We understand the fear of losing control, which is why we don’t just “put things away.” We work with you to organize your home office or business space in a way that is intuitive to your workflow, ensuring you can easily find what you need and function more efficiently.

I'm afraid of having someone just come in and get rid of my things. What if I don't want everything to be thrown away?

Don’t worry. Organizational consulting isn’t about simply throwing things away or purging everything you own. We understand that people have items that are sentimental or keepsakes. As the client, you still have a say in things that stay or go. While this process can be difficult, you don’t need to get rid of everything; you simply need a space that is clean, organized, and allows you to run your business efficiently. We’ll work with you to decide if an item truly serves a purpose in your current workspace. Some personal items might be better displayed elsewhere or rotated out of your immediate area. If an item no longer serves a purpose, we guide you in removing it, whether through donation or disposal.

What if I don’t want everything just put into boxes?

When we work with a client, we understand that each person has a different need or preference. Your solution has to be customized to your needs. Otherwise, you won’t maintain or keep up the system. We work together to find the right solution, whether it’s shelving, boxes, bins, drawers, or baskets. There’s a solution out there, and we enjoy finding creative ways to make your space still look and feel like you.

What if I don’t have time to get organized?

There is always time to get organized. When you are organized, you save time looking for documents, files, or supplies. As they say, time is money – and getting organized is an investment in making your business better and more successful. The time you save with an organized workspace can mean adding another client, spending more time with your family, or starting the weekend early.

What if I’m worried about letting someone see my mess?

We’re in the business of helping people get organized. We know how easy it is to let the mess and clutter take over, and we make it a priority never to allow a client to feel judged or ashamed when they work with us. Our goal is to empower you to be at your best and regain some control in your life, not to punish or shame you in any way. We work together to make this a positive experience.

Do I have to be present when you organize my office space?

Yes! We encourage all of my clients to be present when we organize. Remember, these are your things, and we want you there to share what’s important or sentimental. It’s a hard thing to do, but we can work together to find a home and a proper system so that you don’t fall into the same trap of becoming disorganized or cluttered.

We offer flexibility. We do not require a retainer or a minimum amount of hours unless you specifically request that arrangement. We simply bill for the hours worked once a month.

What is the minimum commitment for your VA service package?
